The impact of the first wave of COVID modified the management of a significant number of patients presenting with CFI, and there was a proactive move to avoid general anaesthetics where possible. Some patients who presented to secondary care were given no treatment, suggesting they could have been managed in primary dental care if this had been available. The focus of this review is on the recent development and implementation of NGS in clinical laboratories. Here, we examine the critical role of NGS technologies in clinical immunology for HLA genotyping. Two major NGS platforms (Illumina and Ion Torrent) are characterized including NGS library preparation, data analysis, and validation. Challenges of NGS implementation in the clinical laboratory are also discussed, including sequencing error rate, bioinformatics, result interpretation, analytic sensitivity, as well as large data storage. This review aims to promote the broader applications of NGS technology in clinical laboratories and advocate for the novel applications of NGS to drive future research.Foreign body (FB) ingestion is a common problem in children under 5 years of age and is one of the main indications for endoscopy. An analytic cross-sectional study was conducted on all patients with FB ingestion seen at the gastroenterology service from January 2013 to December 2018. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program, obtaining frequencies, percentages, medians, and interquartile ranges. Associations were assessed through the chi-square test.

The IOMs from 16 fresh-frozen left forearm specimens were carefully dissected and examined. The footprint areas of the proximal, central, and distal IOM bands were measured in 6 specimens. The histological characteristics of the IOM bands were evaluated using hematoxylin-eosin and Masson trichrome staining protocols in 10 specimens as histological analysis necessitated an intact footprint. The footprint areas of the IOM were measured using an image processing program. The insertion complex was assessed using a light microscope.
Histological assessment revealed that the IOM structure demonstrated similarities with ligament structure.
